Omg. Today is freaky.

While heading to NP's bus stop to pick up Janet. I was thinking that I might see Dennis or the others there 'cos they were in school doing project. And I really saw Wei Xuan standing at the bus stop! I was like, okay, coincidence, this things do happen. Right?

Then tonight after dinner, me, Janet, WT, YX and Aloy were driving around 6th Ave looking at all the huge and beautiful houses. After getting out of 6th Ave, we decided to head over to Hillview to look at more houses.

And I was thinking, maybe we might see Wei Xuan since his house is there. But the chances of that happening is like, nil right? What's the possibility that he might pop his head out of his house just as we drive past.

Wrong.

Just as we drove past, I turned my head to the right. And OMGYM, I see WX sitting in his mum's car, and he looks equally stunned to see me. LOL.

Freaky.

2007 - In Picture

2007 was when I:
- Travelled to Germany for my Industral Attachment, first time in Europe!
- Stayed overseas for the longest period of time. 5 and a 1/2 months.
- Travelled on high speed trains, MRT is slooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
- Did my attachment at Hochschule Mannheim.
- Made a great friend who took care of us in Germany - Elena Petrov.
- Visited Paris!
- Many people don't know this, but I flew back to Singapore in June for my dad's
birthday. first time I flew alone for 12 hrs!
- Visited Amsterdam!
- Visited Switzerland! Travelled 500km alone to Sion to meet Nigel and Curtis.
- Worked with robots for such a long time. ECPRO was nothing.
- Visited Venice, Florence and Pisa!
- Turned 19.
- Took part in my first NP Dragonboat Regetta. MicroE Warriors!
- Got my Class 3 license, got my car.
- Joined MicroE Comm, made great friends.
- My first classmate with same surname, same dialect of both parents! (Teochew and
Hainanese)
- Went to Pulau Ubin for the very first time.
- Planned my first and last camp in Poly. WOW! WAU Camp

2007 came and went. I'm looking forward to 2008 although it means leaving NP and joining the Navy.

I'm back after a long hiatus, reason being there'e nothing special for me to blog about anyway.

Pulau Ubin

Went there with See Hong, Suhardi, Alex and Sok Yum yesterday to recce for our upcoming camp. It's really different from the Singapore mainland, laidback and all. Bike Rentals start from $4 a day for the basic mountain bike. Cheap or what.

We spent about half a day there, mainly cycling from one place to another to check out what we can use during the camp. The people there are really friendly and ready to help. And although it was supposed to be relaxing, being away from all the hustle and bustle of the city, I still got stressed, because there's so much to do, so little time. Damn. I've not been this stressed in a long time. Roars.

UPDATE!!!
Went for dinner with Aloy, YX, Bling, Janet and WT on Friday.
We couldn't decide on where and what to eat...so we ended up at Cafe Cartel IMM.
Have you ever seen 5 ppl eating food for 8?
That's what we did on Friday, actually not me la..is WT, Aloy and YX who had a dish meant for 5...tsk tsk...and I thought the 7th lunar month was over already.

Anyway, someone suggested that we go to Kbox la..so we went..
We used all means to prevent WT from getting the mic...hahahaha....
After that, we ended up at ECP la..cos some ppl want to watch sun rise..
which we didnt get to see la..at least not the sun...

Stomach pain?

Nope.

He's sleeping.

Yesterday, I went out with Shawn, Alex, WX, Dennis, Leonard, Nana and Maia.
We went to watch Underdog at Suntec. The movie was okay okay only. But there were still some funny parts la...After the movie we went to Chomp Chomp for supper before going home.
And thanks guys for the birthday song in the van. hahaha...

Today, I met with JJ before going to town to meet LLS.
She dua bai la she...asked us to meet later but she was still late in the end..tsk...
Anyway, we had Crystal Jade for lunch.

Thanks for the birthday cakes. lol

And..It was back to Kbox after lunch again. We were joined by WT.

We can't seem to take decent pictures.

I rest my case.

Anyway, she's so random la...while in Kbox, she will suddenly ask "Should I rebond my hair?"

Update on Whisky...
His paw's amputated already, just a small part because they want to save as much of it as possible. But this makes healing difficult because that little bugger keeps using that feet as if nothing happened before. We're bringing him back to the vet every 2 days for them to clean the wound and to rebandage it. Hopefully it heals soon.

And, my birthday is coming soon, but nobody date me out yet! Why! Sadded...=(

Anyway, in the event that Whisky's paw needs to be amputated, he won't be needing a wheel or prosthetic paws. I did some research and it seems that dogs get along quite well with just 3 legs. But I'm just fustrated that all this had to happen at all.

Brought Whisky to the vet earlier...bad news...
For those who doesn't know, Whisky had an operation about a month ago to remove a stone in his bladder. The stone forms because of his diet, and his body doesn't agree with the food or something.

After the operation, he started dragging his right hind leg while moving, the vets at a certain animal hospital on Whitley Road said that it was because while he was waking up, the pain from the surgery caused him to thrash around and he injured himself. And the symptoms look like it was damage to his nerves.

Because he drags his feet while walking, the top side of his paw was injured with abrasions and all. Several returns to the vet returned answers like "There's nothing that we can do but wait, he'll recover eventually." Eventually in this case meant 6 months.

They suggested that we bandaged his paw such that there would be protection and to reduce the damage to his paw. His paw was already starting to bleed by now. Get this, they provided the bandages and all for free. The last visit to that hospital came up with a bill of about $12. It could be good will, but I smell a fish.

Yesterday, my dad smelled something bad in the house and found out that it was coming from Whisky's paw. He changed the bandage and found out that it looked infected and all so we decided to bring him to another vet to get a 2nd opinion.

When the vet at Animal Clinic removed the bandage, Whisky's paw was already damaged and infected to such an extent that his bone could be seen. Yet he doesn't feel a thing because of the damage to his nerves. The foot pads on that paw were also falling off because the tissues were dying.

The vet said that there was nothing she could do for now besides to clean the wound and that we should return on Tuesday so that her boss, who has more experience could take a look at Whisky's paw. Then came the bad news, if her boss decides that the damage is too severe, the infected part might have to be amputated. After hearing this, my mum started crying and I almost fainted because of the combined effect of the shock and the stench that was coming from the decaying flesh.

Whisky's home for now, he's really a 苦命狗. He already had 3 surgeries before and also fell sick from many illnesses. He would become out of breath easily when he was young because the bones of his windpipe was soft and they sometimes collapse and then he would have to open it by "sneezing". He's only 16 months old.

I'm damn pissed with the hospital at Whitley Road now, I mean it's so obviously that it's their fault that Whisky's nerves were damaged in the first place. I don't know how his nerves were damaged in the first place and I don't think I would ever find out. If it was damaged during the surgery, then it's their fault. If it was Whisky who damaged his nerves by thrashing around because of the pain, it's also their fault. He was under their care, they were supposed to be professionals and should stop him from hurting himself.

It's so unfair to Whisky and my family that this should happen. Whisky was there to remove stones, how did his leg come into the equation. It's like a person going for an operation on his arm but his leg became amputated.

I don't know how we are going to resolve this problem with the hospital. For now, I just hope that Whisky's paw doesn't need to be amputated. But from what I saw when his bandage was removed, that's pretty impossible.

Gawd..It's 4.53am and I'm here blogging.
I spent $8.30 taking a cab to school for a talk that lasted all of 45mins instead of 2hrs..zzz....
After that, Shawn, WX, Alex, Leonard, QX and I went to Plaza Sing for dinner at Manhattan Fish Market, it was supposed to be a late bdae celebration for Alex la...

We went for a movie after dinner, "No Reservations"...zzz...we thought it was a comedy..but turned out to be a romance movie instead. But it was nice anyway...had a few funny bits here and there...

Anyway, the elusive Mr Ang have been tracked down, here's another happy receipient of the premium swiss chocs...

5 months of hard work is thus concluded!
Yesterdae was our last day of work, yet it turned out to be one of the longest days we have worked.
We spent some time drinking tea and coffee with the 老婆 and chatted quite a lot with her.
It was nice, did I mention that she worked at the Artic before? For 16 whole months.
After work, Ginn and I went to this steakhouse to have a celebratory dinner. Haha.

Nigel and Curtis had their presentation today too.
So they're also finished with their work.
We are happy people!

Also, our LOs are happy with our reports, so no major corrections to be done...=)

IT'S TIME TO PARTY!!!
Looking forward to Nigel and Curtis arriving this Sat evening, we are going to Da Bin Lou.=)
And we will be in Italy from Sunday to Thursday. This is the first year I'm spending National Day overseas, and we're gonna celebrate it on the plane back to Frankfurt. Haha.

Gonna go back to school tomorrow to pick up somethings and to bid farewell to the 老公老婆,
'cos they are leaving for hols on Sat.
And we're gonna go shopping after that, I need to pick up some formal wear for the presentation.

Okay...I finally have time to blog bout Sion..

I have to blog this 'cos some people like qx bang are simply to lazy to go to my photobucket to view the pics...

Side info..Sion is the capital city of the canton Valais in Switzerland...That's where some of curtis' family lives...

I travelled 500+ km from Mannheim to Sion to meet up with Nigel and Curtis who were already there for a 11 day vacation...

I went to Basel Bad Bahnhof hoping to find another train...but it only leaves 2 hrs later...sigh...

I was stranded at the train station that we took videos at nearly 5 months ago..the ones with augustine...

We miss QX!...He misses us too! We were saying how much better it would be if he's here with us..=(

Oh ya...we ate horse meat!...it tastes like beef...but not as tough...gut!

I really enjoyed my Sion trip...It's the other place in Europe besides Amsterdam that I really liked...great scenery..great friends...great food...that's the life man...

Harry Potter!!!

F.Y.I...i watched it in ENGLISH! not deutsch or tamil or some other char ba lang language you all were thinking of...lol...

it was great! the only thing was the plot la...but can't blame the movie...cos in the first place..this book wasnt that exciting...

and...

i might get bout 2 weeks of hols in august...cos my prof wans to go on hols..and they are asking us to complete the proj by the end of this month...so..WEEEE...

and in order for me to be able to enjoy my yet-to-be confirmed holiday...i started working on my final report...hiak...long way to go though...

Back from Amsterdam!

Damn, if my attachment was in Amsterdam, I would be the happiest person in the world.

And its not because of the sex. or the weed.

The Dutch are cool people, they speak Dutch all the time, but speak english as though it's their
native language.

The Germans on the other hand, speak Deutsch and nothing else. Okay, exaggerating a lil, SOME Germans can speak english.

I mean, everything's in english, the public announcements, blah blah.

And best of all, the movies are in english!

Oh ya, and Asian food there rocks. We had Indian for the first night and it was damn good, the Chinese on the second night was not bad also.
It's what it says it is, but we didn't go in.

Today was a fun day!

We didn't have to work in school today..

cos there's this "explore science" exhibition at luisenpark...

which is a huge park in mannheim...

and 老公 has a speech today..

so we went to present our work during his speech...

and the only work we did was to change the light sensor values...

and for the rest of the time...we were exploring the park..

its damn nice la...pasir ris park is nth compared to it man...lol...

Today is super duper uber sianzation day...
we didnt noe what to do for the whole morning...
cos..the 老婆 wants us to shorten the task needed to complete the tasks...
but...she also wans it to be accurate...so we don't know what we can do liao..

and...she gtg and she can only speak we us on thurs..meaning if we don't do smth bout it...we would be rotting for the next week...
so...we went to look for the 老公 for the first time...so that we can ask him what we should do...
he came...and we explained the problem...and he said...this is a difficult problem..but i gtg...
sian 1/2...so...not knowing what to do..we left early...

oh ya...to make the day more sianz...
nigel told me...their project is almost finished and they only haf some cleaning up to do...
and they are going for a 2 week break to swiss next month...WTF...
SIANZ...and the 老婆 said that we should take our time...there's no rush...
use the whole of july to finish the task if we haf to...
I DON'T WANT TO USE THE WHOLE OF JULY...I WAN TO GO ON HOLIDAYS!

aniwae...this is one of our programs...i took one day to finish it...dun pray pray hors...

this is our first every publicly revealed works...

and this...was done by a team who took part in the competition 2 yrs ago...

they finish in 2.5 mins..we take 9...cos the 老婆 wans us to make use of as mani sensors as possible...whereas the above work..they only used a rotation sensor and 2 light sensors...which isnt much..cos...its jus making use of all the known distances...

and the 老婆 wans the flexibilty to change the location of some of the tasks...but the robot should still be able to solve it without changes to the program...
thus..we haf 9 light sensors...3 touch sensors..and 1 rotation sensors for all the tasks...

fast = not accurate...
accurate = slow...
she wans fast and accurate...and we haf no idea how to do tat already...=(

school was okay today although its a sunday...didn't have to do a lot of things...
we asked and got a day off two weeks from now..so that we can go to amsterdam!
hiak...gonna go wif ginn, curt and nigel...
elena and her sis came to see us in the morning...
and she came again after sending her sis and bf to the train station to drive us home...

after a while, they came to my room to talk...and some of my neighbours were studying outside the house near my window...and this asshole ask us to keep quiet can...wa laos ehs..fed up..if you are studying inside the house..and im outside...u can ask me to keep quiet...but knn...u stupid enough to wan to study outside..and u ask me to keep quiet when im in MY room? f off man..stupid...

okay..enough of tat...we cooked and den went out to the other side of the house to eat, drink and play poker...cos the fools took the kitchen table out to study...-.-'...

last week was like a dream...

i had so much fun...

damn...im so tired of work...

will they just stop asking us to do the impossible...

example 1...

the robot needs a minimum of 9V to run...

but because they are using rechargable batts..which haf 1.2v each instead of 1.5v like normal alkali batt...the total voltage is bout 7.2v...

lower voltage means weaker motors and sensor values that make no sense...

and we are supposed to live with it but they complain when the robot cant turn...

example 2...

we're using a rotation sensor to determine how far the robot should travel for a task...

we've an allowance of about 20cm where the robot can start along a horizontal axis and still end up where it's supposed to be...

but the prof insist that that is a FIXED point...when we have an allowance of 20 cm...thats a lot okay...

she wans to haf the flexibility to start aniwhere...she suggested using a light sensor to to stop the robot at a certain color...but the point is...the line of color is not straight, it's curved...

so how the hell the robot noe where it is if it doesn't know it's starting point??which means it must be fixed rite???

we had a pretty heated discussion about this prob in the morn...all for 1.5 hrs...damn i'm going crazy...

oh ya...stop calling my hard work "luck" when the robot actually works...i hate that...

i'm sorry that this post is boring..or that i didnt explain the things clearly enough...

the point of this post is jus for me to complain about work...

Heidelberg Visit 2

We went to Heidelberg on the third day Curtis was here, me, qx and ginn went a few times before, but we thought that curtis should not miss it 'cos it's such a beautiful city...

those of us can travel to mannheim for free 'cos we got the semester tix for this region, think of it as a 6 month concession pass that allows unlimited rides on public transport in a region about the size of singapore or bigger..all for 98€

curtis had to buy a tix...8.50€ return i think, for a 15 mins ride there...ouch...qx didn't come along because the printing on his semester tix had faded and there could be trouble with the conductors...

aniwae...we went up the mountain on the furnicular railway again...the view up there was fantastic as usual...

didn't take lots of pics 'cos we were there before..

anyway...that day was a sinful day...

and we stayed up till bout 4 am playing poker with the poker chips i bought in freiburg...hehe...

im still tired now...cos i was working on my interim report and this new blog yesterdae after sending curt off...so i had only bout 11 hours of sleep in the past 60 hours or so...=(

anyway...i saw this pic on midac's website...i miss midac!...i miss the three asses in the pic...lols..not referring to the lecturers arhs..

anyhow, curtis was in mannheim from friday nite to today morning, it was nice catching up with him, since we haven't seen him since the cologne trip..

We went to Freiburg on saturday, freiburg is a tourist city on the outskirts of the Black Forest, home of the makers of the cuckoo clocks..

The city has a system of gutters called Bächle running through its centre, it's interesting to see people jus sitting in the middle of the road and soaking their feet in the water...

Legend has it that anyone who steps into the gutters by accident would end up marrying a local...=p

don't ask me what I was doing, I don't know either...=\

Nice pic....haha...we were taking pictures of the cable car model...than I noticed the reflection, so we ended up taking that instead...

One skill we picked up in Europe, the ability to play dai dee anywhere, anytime...
